About Setup Shark

It all kicked off about 8 years ago, back when we were known as Motorsport Development. Things were pretty old school — think printed track maps on A4 paper, scribbled notes with pens and pencils, and stacks of booklets scattered around the paddock.

Founder of Setup Shark, Lee Wallis, a racer and small-time presenter with an IT background, was the guy behind those sheets — building setup charts and data templates for fellow motorsport folks. One day, walking through the pits (and not flat-out working for once), he noticed something: everyone was still knee-deep in paper. Greasy hands, brake dust, tiny notebooks... it was chaos.

And that's when the lightbulb moment hit: there's got to be a better way to do this.

Fast forward to today, and Setup Shark is what came out of that realization. The digital world lets us track, compare, and organize way better than stacks of dusty notebooks ever could. Sure, pen and paper still have their charm — but when you need info fast, digital wins every time.
